I found Poca at Animal Haus Chihuahuas in Bristol, Virginia. She was 8 weeks old. Her brother was a short hair as sometimes happens in Chihuahua litters. Poca is a long hair Chihuahua, Born August 17, 2004 I had to learn how to live with such a tiny creature. I made mistakes, and thank God she has survived. At first my cat, Fluffy accidentally scratched her in the middle of her cornea. Luckily she healed without any scars. Then my attempt to puppy proof my house fell short a little. She found an electric wire under a rug and chewed on it resulting in getting an electric shock. I was getting in the habit of keeping an eye on what she was doing when I didn't see her running around. But this time I was on the phone and the only indication that I knew anything was wrong was a blood curdling yell. She was lucky - no burns - no consequences. She is fast and she rushes for the couch and before I know it I have knocked her down from the arms of the couch onto the floor. Now I keep pillows there to cushion her fall if it happens again. Tiny dogs require a certain mind-set. People steal them out of yards. Birds of prey find them a tasty meal. Big dogs can accidently case damage. They are always under foot, so they get kicked a lot. They are closer to the ground so they are close to bees lurking in the clover. Get what I mean? Poca has taken her Therapy Dog test and passed with flying colors. She has earned her Obedience CD, all 3 qualifications were in top 4th place. The summer of 2005 she traveled with me to Aspen, Colorado and was a wonderful traveler. We now have "My Sweet Solomon of Animal Haus", his birthday is April 22, 2006. He is also a long coat for my first venture into showing a dog in conformation. He will also show in Obedience. He is working on his "Novice" title. They are very happy together and have much fun playing.
